Kingston, Ontario—October 20th, 2025— Free virtual entrepreneurship training and an opportunity to receive startup funding is available to more than 1,000 aspiring African entrepreneurs through the Jim Leech Mastercard Foundation Fellowship on Entrepreneurship at the Dunin-Deshpande Innovation Centre at Queen’s University (DDQIC).
Applications Now Open for the 2026 Jim Leech Mastercard Foundation Fellowship on Entrepreneurship
The Jim Leech Mastercard Foundation Fellowship on Entrepreneurship has officially launched its application process for African students and recent graduates. This prestigious eight-month program offers participants a unique opportunity to sharpen their entrepreneurial skillset, gain access to invaluable resources, and receive financial support to turn their innovative ideas into real-world ventures.
The Fellowship is designed to empower African youth by providing them with the tools and mentorship they need to tackle pressing challenges within their communities and beyond. Whether applicants have a business idea in its early stages or are simply driven by the desire to create change, this program offers a robust curriculum that fosters leadership, innovation, and impact.

The Fellowship provides participants access to world-class entrepreneurial training, a dedicated network of mentors, financial support, and the chance to collaborate with like-minded individuals. Throughout the program, Fellows will develop the mindset and skills needed to drive meaningful social and economic change across Africa.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Fellowship, applicants must:
Be a current student or recent graduate (within 5 years since graduating) of an African university or college.
- Demonstrate a passion for solving critical local or global challenges.
Not required to have an existing business; early-stage ideas and entrepreneurs are encouraged to apply.
