UCT SWEEP GBV Conference
Join us for the UCT SWEEP Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Conference on Saturday, 19 October 2024 from 10am - 2pm, where we bring together key voices and organisations committed to addressing GBV in South Africa.
We are honored to have Nomangwane Mrwetyana, mother of Uyinene Mrwetyana, deliver the keynote address, sharing her powerful perspective on the ongoing fight against GBV.
GRIT (Gender Rights in Tech) will also be part of the event. GRIT is at the forefront of using technology to address GBV, working to bridge the gap between gender rights and tech innovation. By creating accessible digital tools, GRIT empowers women and communities, offering real-time data insights and technology-driven solutions to prevent and respond to GBV across the African continent.
Memeza (Zulu for Shout), a pioneering social enterprise, will also be present. Memeza’s groundbreaking work focuses on community safety through innovative, low-cost alarm systems designed for vulnerable households. By integrating with local law enforcement, Memeza enhances response times and ensures rapid intervention in cases of violence, providing a critical tool in the fight against GBV.
This conference will be a platform to explore how technology, community engagement, and activism can unite to combat GBV, with voices like GRIT, Memeza, and other key advocates leading the charge. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn, engage, and take action.
