    Government regulatory body. Includes information on registration and continuing professional for health professions.

    South African Medical Association (SAMA)
    SAMA is a non-statutory, professional association for public and private sector medical practitioners. It functions as a non-profit company registered in terms of the Companies Act as well as a Public Sector registered in terms of the Labour Relations Act. SAMA is a voluntary membership association, existing to serve the best interests and needs of its members in any and all healthcare-related matters.

    Association of Surgeons of South Africa (ASSA)
    The Association of Surgeons of South Africa (ASSA) was founded in 1943 as a non-profit organization and is the body that represents General Surgeons in South Africa. Other specific surgical interest groups such as SASES, VASSA, TSSA and the CSSA are members of the ASSA executive committee and represented by ASSA on the South African Medical Association (SAMA) boards.

    South African Addiction Medicine of South Africa (SAAMS)
    The primary objective of the Society is to promote the ethical and evidence-based practice of addiction medicine in South Africa. The Society is a non profit organization.

    South African Academy of family Physicians (SAAFP)
    The SAAFP is the national association of family doctors, representing South Africa on the World Organisation of Family Doctors (WONCA). The aim of the SAAFP is to develop the discipline and body of knowledge of family medicine through research, education and training, provide for the professional needs of its members such as continuing professional development, and to represent the opinion of the profession on national and international forums.

    Alliance of South African Independent Practitioners Association (ASAIP)
    ASAIPA represents 15 IPA’s throughout South Africa, consisting of more or less 1120 independent General/Family practitioners and Primary Care Providers in individual and/or group practice.

    Christian Medical Fellowship of South Africa (CMFSA)
    CMF exists with a view to helping Christian doctors, dentists and other health workers (pre- and post-graduate) to grow in their faith and witness, and to find Christian answers to the many ethical and other problems we face in the profession.

    Islamic Medical Association of South Africa (IMASA)
    IMASA non-profit, public benefit organisation that provides health and medical care to the disadvantaged and underprivileged communities in South Africa. As Muslim medical and health professionals they are committed to the values expressed by the Hippocratic Oath and believe that it is their responsibility to serve the community.

    South African Society of Occupational Medicine (SASOM)
    SASOM aims to protect and promote the health of workers through quality occupational health programmes and clinical excellence to the benefit of employees, employers and occupational medical practitioners.

    DST-NRF Internship Programme 2019/20
    The National Research Foundation (NRF) is responsible for the management of the DST-NRF Internship Programme in which unemployed Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) graduates and postgraduates (including those in Social Sciences and Humanities) are offered an opportunity to acquire practical work experience through mentoring and exposure to a research environment. Only South African university graduates with Bachelors, Honours, BTech, MTech or Master’s degrees may apply. Interns will receive a monthly salary ranging between R6 070 and R8 050 per month, depending on the level of qualification.

    UCT- Harvard Mandela Fellowships
    This fellowship is intended to strengthen connections between the W.E.B. Du Bois Research Institute (at the Hutchins Centre for African and African American Research, Harvard University) and UCT, to provide opportunities for UCT staff to gain international experience, and to support the professional advancement of academics working particularly, but not only, in the humanities and social sciences. To be eligible, applicants must have been awarded the PhD degree at the time of application, and have permanent or T3 academic posts at UCT.     MMUF is an equity-inspired program that is awarded to highly performing Black students who are entering the final year of a three-year first degree or the third year of a four-year professional degree from the sciences and humanities at UCT and other participating undergraduate institutions. The program offers financial support, organized mentoring and is designed specifically to provide students with a greater awareness of what it means to be an academic. 

    Mwalimu Nyerere African Union (AU) Scholarship Scheme
    The AU scholarship is only for applicants with physical disabilities for masters in social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, mathematics, education sciences and sports sciences and closes in March annually.
